Our commitment to the environment starts at home

In Ecuador, approximately 87,000 tons of electronic waste are generated annually, of which only 4% is properly recycled. In addition, more than 35 million batteries are consumed each year, 80% of which end up in common waste. These data alert us to the urgent need to properly manage special waste such as batteries, electronic and electrical devices and end-of-life medicines.
Did you know that a single battery can contaminate up to 167,000 liters of water? Or that medicines thrown in the trash can affect entire ecosystems if they reach water sources? Electronic devices contain heavy metals such as lead, mercury and cadmium that take centuries to degrade.
In 2024, at Quifatex we recycled 351.28 kg of electrical and electronic waste collected among our collaborators, avoiding the emission of 487 tons of CO₂. This achievement inspires us to go further.
The campaign will promote the repair and reuse of electronic devices, the use of rechargeable batteries, and the responsible disposal of medicines.
This initiative reaffirms our purpose of improving lives, contributing to the health and well-being of Ecuadorian families. We care for our environment, strengthen our environmental culture and lead by example. Sustainability is not an option, it is a shared commitment.
